    Your Rating

Q: What is the weight load of the Wearwell FOUNDATION Ramp?

A: The uniform weight load of FOUNDATION ramps is approximately 177lbs/sq ft

Q: Are corners available for FOUNDATION platforms?

A: Yes, corners are available as a custom add on. Please reach out via our contact form for custom ramps.

Q: Do I need any fasteners for the platform?

A: There are no fasteners required for the FOUNDATION ramp to attach it to the FOUNDATION platform

Q: What if I need a shorter ramp for my platform?

A: Please contact us at for a custom ramp in this situation

Q: How do I determine how many ramps I need for my FOUNDATION work platform?

A: Standard ramps are 36" wide. Generally only one on-ramp is necessary for a platform. However, multiple ramps can be added side by side to create wider ramps. Divide ramp width needed by 36" to get the number of ramps needed.

Q: Are the FOUNDATION work platform ramps slippery?

A: Ramps are not slippery when clean and dry. If slips are a concern, we recommend GripSafe tape be purchased to be added to the ramp on-site.

Q: How do I know if I need ramps for my work platform?

A: Ramps are never required. Companies can decide on an application by application basis.

Q: What if I need another color for my work platform ramps?

A: Yellow GripSafe Tape is available to place atop ramps for color and traction. Ramps only come in silver color.

Q: Do the edges of FOUNDATION ramps pose a tripping hazard?

A: Safety is priority number one here at Wearwell. FOUNDATION ramps are designed to provide safe on-off access for all users. All FOUNDATION ramps meet OSHA regulations.

Q: What gauge info is available for the aluminum?

A: The gauge of aluminum on each FOUNDATION ramp will meet a 300 lb load rating requirement.

Q: Are the ramps suitable for wheeled traffic like carts and dollies?

A: Yes, FOUNDATION ramps are great for wheeled traffic. We recommend a minimum wheel diameter of 4 inches.

    Q: Do I need railing?

A: Railing is not required for any FOUNDATION platform. See below for OSHA guidance on railing.

Q: How do I design my railing?

A: Contact us to work with an expert on planning out your railing. Our contact form is available on the website.

Q: What is the railing made of?

A: The railing is made of galvanized steel.

Q: Can someone help me plan out my railing?

A: We are happy to work with you to plan your railing. If you can provide a diagram, that can be a good starting point. Simply fill our our contact form.

Q: Can the railing be used on anything other than a concrete floor?

A: Our railing system is intended to be used on concrete. If it will be used with another surface, other anchors may need to be purchased

Q: How tall does my railing need to be?

A: Railing height should be 42 inches (1.06m) above the walking surface. If used with a platform, the total height of your rail should be 42 inches (1.06m) added to the height of the platform.

Q: Can I have a shorter width or length railing kit?

A: Our kits come standard with 6-foot (1.82m) rails. This means the Posts will be roughly 6' apart. To get a shorter kit, simply cut onsite the rails or posts to the proper size to fit.

Q: Can the railings be attached to the FOUNDATION platforms?

A: Wearwell’s railings are not made to be attached to the platform itself.

Q: How sturdy is the railing?

A: Railing can handle a minimum of 200 pounds of force in any direction.

Q: Can Wearwell railing turn at angles other than 90-degrees?

A: Currently, only 90-degree turns are available with Wearwell railing.

Q: Can Wearwell railings be used for stairs?

A: Currently Wearwell railing is not intended for stairways.

Q: What OSHA or other regulations are required for railing or working at height?

A: ANSI: ANSI A14.7-2011, 4.4.4 All ladder stand platforms with platform height of 4 feet to 10 feet shall be provided with handrails. The use of removable gates or non-rigid members such as chains shall be permitted for special use applications. Handrails in the platform area above the standing surface shall have a vertical height of at least 36 inches and include a mid-rail.

OSHA: 1910.29(b)(1) The top edge height of top rails, or equivalent guardrail system members, are 42 inches (107 cm), plus or minus 3 inches (8 cm), above the walking-working surface. The top edge height may exceed 45 inches (114 cm), provided the guardrail system meets all other criteria of paragraph (b) of this section (see Figure D–11 of this section).

Midrails, screens, mesh, intermediate vertical members, solid panels, or equivalent intermediate members are installed between the walking-working surface and the top edge of the guardrail system as follows when there is not a wall or parapet that is at least 21 inches (53 cm) high:

    Midrails are installed at a height midway between the top edge of the guardrail system and the walking-working surface;

1910.29(b)(3) Guardrail systems are capable of withstanding, without failure, a force of at least 200 pounds (890 N) applied in a downward or outward direction within 2 inches (5 cm) of the top edge, at any point along the top rail.

When the 200-pound (890-N) test load is applied in a downward direction, the top rail of the guardrail system must not deflect to a height of less than 39 inches (99 cm) above the walking-working surface.

Guardrail systems are smooth-surfaced to protect employees from injury, such as punctures or lacerations, and to prevent catching or snagging of clothing.

1910.29(b)(7) The ends of top rails and midrails do not overhang the terminal posts, except where the overhang does not pose a projection hazard for employees.
